A Message from Gib Cooper of the BOTA Project

Dear BOTA Supporter,

I recently attended and spoke at the 1st Mexican Bamboo Congress that was recently held in Xalapa, Veracruz on December 8-10, 2005. Please find attached a short report.

With the year rapidly coming to an end, I wish to convey seasons greetings to all of you. Looking ahead to the new year, I am happy to announce I am working with BOTA Mexico Director, Gilberto Cortés, and BOTA Advisor, Dr. Lynn Clark to develop criteria to assist students in Mexico to advance their native bamboo studies. Both Lynn and Gilberto would agree that there are a few talented, young bambuseros rising from the ranks who need our help. I know there are only a few days left to take advantage of tax deductable donations for 2005, so if you can manage please consider sending a check made out to "ABS-BOTA".

Sincerely,

Gib Cooper
